Some of the trail rides that the Wickenburg Horsemen's Association goes on are on Arizona State Land Department land and require a recreational permit.  For example, the areas of Sophie Flats and around Vulture Peak.  This permit can be obtained by clicking on this link  www.azland.gov/RP on the Internet or calling (602) 542-4631.  The permit can now be purchased online.  It is $20 a year for a family permit and $15 for an individual.  The permit is good for one year from the day it is processed.

When you get your permit, be sure to display the parking pass in your vehicle's windshield and keep the permit on your person or in a saddle bag when you go on a ride.  Last year, the state appeared to be enforcing this more and were checking vehicles and some riders were even stopped and ticketed.  To keep from coming back from a great ride only to discover that you have a ticket on your truck, we would suggest buying a permit.
